On June 18, 1998, Exclusive Furniture opened its first
store inside Almeda Mall totaling a mere 2,100 square feet in size, including both
its sales floor and warehouse. With a lot of hard-work, determination, customer
service, and success over the next sixteen months we grew enough to open a second
venue. We opened the Gessner and Southwest Freeway (Hwy 59) location on October
15, 1999, at the time totaling 7,000 square feet. Our increased customer base combined
with our growing customer satisfaction and determination for success enabled us
to expand the Southwest Freeway location to 18,000 square feet in December, 2000.
February, 2001 marked the onset of “SUPER SAM” the fictional caped character that
accompanied Exclusive Furniture’s advertising campaigns. The extra exposure caused
by the advertising campaign required our attention. In August, 2001 to better serve
our customer base, our largest store, Northwest Freeway (Hwy 290) and Jones Road
was opened. Offering 28,000 square feet of warehouse and sales floor, the Jersey
Village location offered a larger inventory for our customers to browse.
The tragic
event of September 11, and the economic recession that followed shortly after, suggested
that we close our original and now antiquated location in March of 2002. As the
economy rebuilt itself and our newest location set in its roots, we steadily grew.
December 18, 2005 marked the reopening of our original Almeda location; moving the
store outside and to a much larger 19,000 square foot space, we would once again
be able to conveniently service our original customer base.
In the near future we plan to expand the Northwest Freeway location to 36,000 square
feet and will be moving the Southwest Freeway location to 6900 Southwest Freeway,
at Hillcroft. The Southwest Freeway location will open on Labor Day, September 1,
2007, and the new location will be 21,500 square feet. With a larger centralized
warehouse, a restructured point-of-sale (POS) system, a better inventory and delivery
control system, and our new website Exclusive Furniture plans to reward its current
and future customer base more than ever.
